  • When should I call 112? 
    • If people are injured.  

    • If the vehicle is so damaged it cannot be driven, or it creates a danger to others.  

    • If there is a suspicion that traffic laws have been broken, such as speeding or drunk driving, or if other provisions of the traffic laws are not enforced. 

    What is the first response to damage?
    • Check if people have been injured, if so, call 112 immediately. 

    • Turn on your warning lights and pay attention to safety at the scene of the accident. 

    • Before moving vehicles, it is good to take photos of the accident scene.

    How do I report damage?
    • Report the loss or damage as soon as possible on My Pages

    • Clear, detailed information in a notification speeds up the processing of the case. 

    • If people are injured, you must always report it to us.

    Can I get a rental car during the repair?
    • If you have Grunnur, you are entitled to a class A rental car for up to five days while repairs are being carried out. If you prefer to be paid for loss of use (ISK 5,000 per day), send an email to the email address [email protected] after repair. Then the number of days the car was in the workshop is known and the amount is calculated based on that. 

    • Customers of Premía in Arion Bank are entitled to a rental car in the same size category as their own vehicle, for up to five days while repairs are being carried out.

    • Loss of use and use of a rental car is based on normal repair time. If the repairs take longer, contact us and we will look into the matter with you. 

    • Please note that we do not pay for a rental car, or loss of use, for the time repairs are delayed, for example due to an unusually long delivery time for spare parts. 

    How does agreed compensation work?
    • If you want to receive agreed compensation, you have the damage assessed at a certified workshop and state that you want compensation instead of repair. This is done so that more parts than are necessary are not ordered. Then you send an email to [email protected], request the agreed compensation and include the invoice number with the request. 

    • If the vehicle is owned by a credit institution, or has a mortgage, the mortgage must give permission so that the claim is paid out. The credit institution receives the compensation, unless otherwise agreed. 

    • In the case of damage covered by comprehensive insurance, no compensation is paid. 

    What do I do if the vehicle is un-driveable?
    • If the vehicle had to be towed, we will contact you regarding the next steps. If you do not hear from us, be sure to send a message through the online chat, or callus on 514-1000 and we will assist you. 

    • Damage assessment must be done at a certified workshop. If it is possible to repair the vehicle, we give the workshop approval, and you get an appointment for repairs. 

    • If repair is not worthwhile, we will contact you regarding the purchase of the vehicle. 

  • How high is the deductible?
    • Your deductible is listed on the vehicle insurance policy, which you can find on My Pages.  

    • There is no deductible in liability damages for customers in Grunnur. 

    What do I do when a car windshield is damaged?
    • If the damage is smaller in size than an ISK 100 coin and not in the driver's line of sight, there is a good chance that the windshield can be repaired.  

    • Wipe over the damage and place a windshield sticker over the break. Then go as soon as possible to the nearest certified car window repair shop. 

    • If it is possible to repair the windshield, Vörður pays the full cost of the repair. Which means no deductible and nothing out of your pocket.

    • After that, you will receive a claim number that you will give the repairer.

    How high is the deductible in car windshield damage?
    • The deductible for car windshield damage is 25% of the total damage.  

    • There is no deductible in windshield repairs. 

    How do I report damage to a company car?
    • If you want to report damage to a company car, log in to the company's My Pages with your ID number and password.  

    • If you don't have a password, click on “Don't have a password?” The password will then be available in the company's online banking, under electronic documents.
